Hot Springs Pilates Studio

The Pilates method is a movement technique performed in a sequential order on the mat or on the spring based equipment invented by Joesph Pilates.  Hot Springs Pilates Studio used the ideas and concepts of the classical Pilates method with the understanding that each client has needs that may range from sports injury prevention, to fitness, to rehabilitative therapy.

The emphasis is on centering the body by developing the strength of core muscles (abdominals and back muscles).  The sequence of exercises are designed to strengthen and stretch the muscles in specific patterns, body relationships, and planes of movement.  The sequence, when done consistently, helps the body perform and function better due to an aligned, strong and supple structure.  The end result is a toned, strong body with improved postural support, alignment, and flexibility that is able to move efficiently with better coordination, balance, and grace.

Pilates was developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century.  He believed that mental and physical health were essential to one another and created a method of total body conditioning that emphasizes these 8 principles.  These principles add focus, depth, and layers of learning to the technique.
